Pre and Post Waxing Care

BEFORE

First things first let it grow! Patience is your friend. If you have been shaving wait at least 3 weeks before booking your appointment. We need at least a 1/2 inch of growth for optimal results. If you wax regularly wait 4 to 6 weeks since your last waxing. You will have about a 1/4 inch of regrowth. Keep in mind waxing will be more painful and not as effective if you haven't waited enough.

Be Prepared for Your Service

On the day of your service:

  • Take a hot shower to open the follicle.
  • Exfoliate the area to remove dead skin cells and lift trapped hairs.
  • DO NOT apply lotion, deodorant, or any other skin care product to the area to be waxed.
  • 30 minutes before your appointment, take an OTC pain reliever such as Tylenol or Advil as long as it is not against the advice of your physician.

Check for the Following Aftercare Items at Home

  1. Tea Tree body wash or antibacterial soap.
  2. Tea Tree lotion or unscented lotion.
  3. Ingrown Hair Preventative such as Ingrown Zone Hair Serum.
  4. Exfoliating Mesh Sponge.

Of course, aftercare items are available for purchase at the time of your service.

AFTER

Caring for your skin between waxing services can make the difference between enjoying smooth, hair free skin and feeling like you are at war with breakouts, bumps, and ingrown hairs.

ADVICE

For a period of 24 hours AVOID:

  • Working Out (Including running and swimming)
  • Sun Tanning
  • Bed Tanning (Including spray tanning)
  • Surfing
  • Tub Bathing
  • Hot Tubs
  • Saunas
  • Tight Clothing
  • Keep showers in the first 24 hours at a mild temperature to help close the follicle.

Use Tea Tree body wash in your shower for the first 3 to 5 days. This keeps the follicle free of bacteria that may cause breakouts.

To aid in preventing ingrown hairs, exfoliate the waxed area starting 2 days after your service. For continued home care we recommend exfoliating 1 to 3 times per week. Moisturize the area daily.

Use your Ingrown Zone Hair Serum for 7 to 10 days when the new hairs begin to surface. Resume use 2 to 3 days prior to your next appointment. This will begin to breakdown the hair bulb allowing hair to slip out of the follicle more easily during your service.

Lastly, Do Not Shave Between Services

Shaving makes the hair resistant to future waxing services and makes it more painful when you do return for your next service.
